Breed Societies

Once again the Breed Societies are out in force – maybe a different breed will catch your eye, here you will be able to find out all you need to know to make an informed choice.

British Wool Marketing Board

BWMB will be on hand to explain the current wool market situation and give useful hints on wool management and how to make the most of your wool clip. Also hear about the courses that are available through British Wool Training.

Trial Plots

Specially grown plots of forage crops have been planted to make some on-site comparisons and allow visitors to see the differences. This is managed and sponsored by David Bright Seeds.

Sheep Handling Workshop with Miriam Parker

The Sheep Handling Workshop with Miriam Parker from Livestock Wise will be taking place at set times during the day, allowing farmers, shepherds and contractors the opportunity to realise that they have the knowledge but how to apply good practise when working with sheep. This is sponsored by AHDB Beef & Lamb.

Butchery Demonstrations

Randall Parker Foods will be back again with their demonstration of butchery techniques in their role of providing Sainsbury’s with  lamb. Julien Pursglove, Sainsbury’s Head Butcher will also be attending.

Sheepdog Trial

Again this year there will be an organised Open and Novice trials which will be taking place through out the day. This will be taking place in a location for everyone to have a great view.

Farm Tour

The farm tour gives you the chance to rest your legs and enjoy the view of the Cranborne Chase and West Salisbury Plains, from purpose built trailers while at the same time learning more about the issues that affect Pythouse Farm.

Celebrating Wool Area

Why not visit the Celebrating Wool area during the day and see spinning and weaving demonstrations and various stands with woollen products.

The Sheep Show

The Sheep Show is a humorous educational live stage show about sheep and wool.  Edu-tainment at it’s best. 9 breeds introduced onto their own stage. We learn about each breeds attributes and how wool from the sheep’s back becomes a jumper to wear. The shearing demonstration is well commentated and has the audience captivated.
